Switzerland approves heroin use

Heroin users will be able to inject freely in Switzerland after a weekend vote on the issue.
Swiss voters have overwhelmingly approved the move to give addicts government-authorized heroin.
At the same time, voters rejected a proposal to decriminalize marijuana.
A heroin program has been running in Switzerland since 1994 and the vote will simply make it permanent.
The heroin program is offered in centres across Switzerland which offer a range of support to nearly 1,300 addicts.
While the heroin program has been credited with reducing crime and improving the health of addicts, some 63.2 percent of voters decided against the marijuana initiative, concerned that liberalizing the drug could lead to cannabis tourism.
Parliament had already approved the heroin measure in a revision of Switzerland's narcotics law in March, but conservatives were unhappy with the decision, forcing a national referendum.
The United States has criticized the program as having the potential to fuel drug abuse.

This is the only thing that a civilized society can do, and through this free heroin made available to those unfortunate addicts will make crime related to drug users fall, as well as many innocent lives will be saved, especially those of law inforcement Officers who lose their lives trying to stop the illegal drug trade.
I believe that all responsible societies should use this heroin program as an example to curtail the drug profits that organized crime benefits at the expense of innocent drug users that are caught in their vice, and who knows if some of these drug users could eventually break the drug habit through this oranized program.

Yes human lives must be saved, and this is a sign of a responsible civil society.
These drug addicts must be saved, because they are very sick, and through their sickness they do harm to society, so it is the moral obligation of a responsible moral society to cure, or maintain their habit with free drugs so that they will not be strumentalized like they are being by the criminal elements who prosper financially with the control of their drug trade.
Let us do not forget the loss of innocent lives due to the drug traffic, and the harship on families that have a drug addict to maintain.
I believe that if this free drug programm will be extended to other civilized countries a better society would evolve, and surely it would be a hard blow to organized crime.
