The Minnesota Twins reinstated starting pitcher Homer Bailey from the 45-day injured list Tuesday.
Bailey will start against the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night.
The Twins optioned right-handed pitcher Sean Poppen to the team's alternate training site in St. Paul, Minn.
Bailey, 34, missed 51 games with right biceps tendinitis after making just one start. Bailey signed with the Twins as a free agent in the offseason.
Bailey earned the win in the Twins' home opener against the St. Louis Cardinals on July 28. Bailey worked five innings, allowing two runs and four hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Bailey is 81-86 with a 4.56 ERA in 244 career starts, 212 of those coming with the Cincinnati Reds.
Poppen posted a 4.70 ERA and 10 strikeouts in six appearances in five games with the Twins.
