European equities opened Monday on a stable note as investors paused for breath after a broadly upbeat Asian session and another record-breaking New York performance.

London's benchmark FTSE 100 index firmed 0.2% to 7 142.28 points compared with Friday's closing level.

In the eurozone, the Paris CAC 40 nudged 0.1% lower to stand at 6 380.50 but Frankfurt's DAX 30 was unchanged.

Markets mostly advanced in Asia following a record close on Wall Street as a well-below-forecast US jobs report eased inflation concerns, while oil prices climbed more than one percent after a crucial US pipeline was put out of action by a cyber attack.
